Inspiring Interiors

While in Minnesota recently, we took a trip to the Como Zoo in St. Paul.  Of course we saw animals, but the gardens were gorgeous.

I seriously love these pendants.  Does it get any better?

It almost, sort of did.  I saw this beautiful artwork designed by a local artist, Allan Peters.

You see, the Como Zoo is a city owned zoo and runs completely off donations and this artwork certainly sparked an interest.

Not only were the zoo interiors beautiful, but I was surprised by a beautiful ceramic origami deer ornament.

Love at first sight.  I share the same affinity for white ceramic animals that Sherry at Young House Love does.  I think she would be very happy to have this guy on her Christmas tree.

So, that’s what I did on my recent vacation.  What surprising places have inspired you?

  1. I LOVE that ceramic deer ornament! The gardens at that zoo really are stunning — I hope I am able to visit one day =)
Thanks for sharing your vacation with us

    1. Hi Andrea,

Sadly, it didn’t. I’m waaaaay to cheap to spend $16.00 on a single ornament. I am searching for a similar substitute, though. If you find anything similar, I’d love a heads up!

  2. So excited that you went to Minnesota! I’m from there. And my grandfather used to be the “Sparky the Seal” trainer for many years before he passed. I spent many summers at Como Zoo and consevatory! As a matter a fact, my husband and I were going to get married in that very location (that you’ve posted above) in the consevatory. We opted for Venice instead! So many memories!! Thanks for sharing!

    1. Hi Tabitha,

I grew up just outside of Saint Paul, and my family still lives there, so we visit often. That’s cool that your grandpa was the trainer. My sisters and I loved the Sparky the Seal show! I think the conservatory is beautiful, but i would have to go with Venice, too.

      Thanks!!

    1. Andrea,

These are great! I still have a trick I might try though, so we’ll see if it works. Thanks for the links, though!!
