Even though we’ve only been blogging since May, we’re here to share our top projects of the year.
By far, our most viewed posts, thanks to Young House Love, are about building and the completion of our DIY welded steel and marble dining table.
I have to say, it’s one of our proudest DIY projects, too.
Another fan favorite is the coffee filter pendant that is in our guest room.
A simple, affordable art from magazines is another favorite.
Our painted rug was an affordable solution to join the chevron craze.
Rounding out our top five is how to update brass using Blue Magic cream.
Did any of your favorite projects crack the top five? What is your proudest DIY? If you have an idea you’d like us to tackle, please send an e-mail to ourhumbleabowed@gmail.com for consideration.

I absolutely LOVE the painted rug post! I’m hoping to tackle that myself! The blue magic really is amazing as well—you have SO many great posts!!! I always love reading about your deals and steals too!
I made some pendant lights out of mason jars recently and I’d have to say that is my favorite DIY job that I did 🙂

So many great posts!
Another honorable mention goes to your many beautiful DIY pillow covers!
Ditto for the pillow covers–I loved the herringbone and yellow felt ones! Your home is beautiful!
Yes Iv listed my top 5 of the year as well, my proudest is my diy wall art as I see it each day when I wake which is a nice sentiment. I’ve enjoyed reading your posts since joining the blogging world and look forward to some more before and afters in 2011 🙂
really love the coffee filter pendant light & magazine art work.
Beautiful home! Thanks for the inspiration!
You guys have done quite a few great projects- congrats! I love the chevron rug. What type of paint did you use?
Hi Hilary,
Thanks so much for your kind words. I used KILZ oil based tinted primer and it worked really well. I didn’t even go over with paint and it’s held up well so far, though it isn’t in a high traffic area. I did see another DIY rug that is super cool: http://www.housetweaking.com/2010/07/15/how-to-stencil-a-seagrass-rug/
Hope it helps!

Love that coffee filter pendant so much!
