Gimme a Giveaway: WD-40 Winners!

Thanks to everyone for participating in the WD-40 giveaway!  We’re here to announce three winners for the week.  The lucky winners, selected by Random.org are:

Number 2: Jen who needs this for my patio chairs. They squeak SO badly when you turn in them. Really takes away from the relaxation factor.

Number 12: Danyelle who would use it on her pantry door hinges.

and finally, Number 1: KD who would give it to her dad for the family farm.

Congratulations!

Also, Our Humble A{Bowe}d is looking to team up with sellers or companies for new giveaways.  Whether you have a small Etsy shop or a large company we’d love to hear from you.  Contact Amanda at ourhumbleabowed@gmail.com with your store website and details of what you would like to giveaway.

Wall Sculpture

I have had this wall sculpture made by PrinceDesignUK in my Etsy favorites for a while now.  I wish I had $200.00 to spend on this, but I don’t think I ever will.  But, it is so pretty I had to share with you.

What is one item you’d love to have, but can’t afford or justify spending the big bucks on?  I’d love to see pictures, too, so please send a link if possible.

All  images found via the featured Etsy seller’s listing as linked above.

New Tree Art Series

Recently, I shared a custom cut out design the I fell in love with created by Lori Danelle.  Well, that piece of art got my wheels turning.  I started thinking of all the things I could create of cut outs.  I decided to make cut out versions of two of my art prints.

The first is inspired by my Carved Initials print

I altered the print to create a cut out design by enlarging the heart, keeping the birch tree grain as the background.

The Carved Initials cut out is available for purchase in my Etsy shop

It is customizable with your initials and cardstock background color of choice.

The second design in this art series is a version of my Love Tree print

The Family Tree cut out, available in my Etsy shop, is also customizable with colors and text.

This design is mounted to a white cardstock piece.

Both pieces measure 8 inches by 10 inches.  If you would like to place an order or have questions, please e mail me at ourhumbleabowed@gmail.com.

Pumpkin Carving 2010

Over the weekend, we had a small pumpkin carving party, resulting in some awesome creations.  Wanna see?  Of course you do.

The B monogram is for Bowe.  The faced pumpkins were created by my sister-in-law.  On the left, we have a mean, scary large pumpkin eating a smaller pumpkin.  Next to him, a frightened pumpkin vomiting at the cannibalistic tendencies of his neighbor.

Next up, I created a few Martha-inspired pumpkins.  A very large (we’re talking 30 pounds!) pumpkin sports a wise owl against a full moon.

Another small pumpkin is rockin’ the faux bois.

This is the first time I’ve tried scraping part of the front off, rather than carving completely through.  I’ve got to say, I like it.  We used wood carving tools and it was much easier than I anticipated.

Now, on to the sad news.  We carved our pumpkins waaaaay too early.  They’re definitely looking sad.  I’ve had to skewer the B and the owl to prevent complete and total failure.  Curse you cold Montana weather!  Here they are in the daylight.

Yep, my poor owl has a skewer through his big brain.

The B is leaning and floppy.  On the bright side, the faux bois pumpkin is still completely in tact.  So, that’s what we did this weekend.  Lesson learned the hard way, don’t carve pumpkins when cold weather is coming.  What are your favorite carved pumpkin designs?

Mom Cave?

Yeah, it’s the new version of the Man Cave.  My mom cave is my nearly finished office.

We (when I say ‘we’, I mean Ben) still need to build cabinet doors and drawers and add some finishing touches with accessories.  The bookshelf could be decorated with bright colors to add some pop to play off the neutral white and chocolate color scheme.

I will say that it has come a long way.  Before we started, our entire basement was a concrete shell: concrete floors and concrete walls.  Add a ton of sheet rock, miles of trim, 700 square feet of tile and a few custom-built cabinets and we are getting closer.

The other wall serves as our library, and floor to ceiling bookshelves were built to suit.

My office is my place to escape, to read blogs, and work on orders for my Etsy shop.  This is my mom cave, which happens to neighbor Ben’s man cave.  Funny how that works.
