My neighbor is a 95-year-old cartographer and he is STILL to this day hand-drawing maps! They are truly amazing works of art done with ink on mylar (no computer whatsoever), just like he’s done them for over 60 years. I never thought twice about maps until I saw the ones he makes. Now I’m smitten!
I have an Etsy shop that I have started making state pillows, with hearts on cities. I currently have Minnesota, Iowa, and Illinois, but am slowly growing the collection. These are my favorite, because it is functional art. I started these states when my best friend moved from Minneapolis (where I am) to San Fransisco. I made her a Minnesota pillow with a heart on the Twin Cities, so she will always think of me when she sees it…
