Magic Carpet Ride

Last week, I was wandering through my second home Target, and I saw an abstract floral cotton rug for $19.99.  I thought it was a door mat size, but it opened to a 3 foot by 5 foot rug.

I liked the pattern and the price was great, too, but I didn’t think Ben would like it.  (He seriously hates almost every rug I pick out, including our Flor rugs and our entry rug.)  So, I brought it home anyway, not quite sure of where it would land.  I laid it down in the basement bathroom and asked Ben to look at it.  Never one to disappoint, Ben did hate it.  So, I decided to return it.  Then, a light bulb went off.  What about in the laundry room?

It’s a tight squeeze, but we can put the washer and dryer on it to help keep it in place.

But, we’ll have to wait to use it.  We still need to tile the floors (did you notice the tile ended in that first picture?).  i had hopes of finishing the laundry room around Black Friday, when we looked at getting a new washer/dryer set, but Home Depot had hit their LG quota.  Hopefully next year.  Until then, here’s a shot of our ugly laundry room, because blogging and home renovating aren’t always pretty.

Sadly, not much has changed since this post.

What about you?  Any deals you’ve found at Target recently?  Maybe your laundry room is just as ugly as ours?  Raise your hand if you want a new front loading washer and dryer!  (Me!)

  1. I didn’t see that rug. I would have surely swiped it up for my laundry room. Instead I just bought 3 neutral sisal looking rugs there. Hubs was with me and said $25 for a rug??? I rolled eyes and said not to start…should I start to name all that he spends. Hahah.

  2. We went to Target the other day and I saw two of the Dwell Studio green Tangier pillows that I love on sale for about 18 bucks each. But sadly my husband wasn’t so into them so I passed them by. I also just bought a bunch of fabric to make pillows anyways so it was a wise decision all around.

  3. I want to go to Target RIGHT NOW to see if my local Target has that rug. I’d love it in my kitchen in front of the sink. My kitchen is Apple green with black and white toille accents so I think it would be a nice replacement for the one I’m getting tired of looking at!

    1. Hey Vonda (and anyone else looking for this rug),

I found it in the main home decor section where they change out the decor seasonally (ours is by the Smith and Hawken asile). It’s not in the back with the rest of the rugs. They had this same design in chocolate brown and navy blue, too. hope if helps!

  4. I like the rug! Also our laundry room looks about the same as yours. It’s ugly and it’s too much work for us to finish it for our first house so ugly it will stay! 🙂

  5. I too would be very happy living in Target. I can’t get enough of their clearance deals. I’m very excited to see the “after” picture when you complete this room. I’m sure it will be amazing!

  6. Gotta love Target! That’s a great deal for a nice looking rug. I too want something for in front of my kitchen sink. I think it’d be perfect. Thanks for passing the info along:)

  7. I got a white pig with a chalkboard on the side, I love it! Target is the best. Love the rug. One in brown would be great, but I have so many rugs I inherited from my dad. It is out of control. I would go to target more if it didn’t upset my husband so much.
