Summer Swap

Typically, I’ll decorate the house for only a few holidays and seasons.  Nothing major, usually, just a few decorations.  We don’t have a mantle, so our decor switches are few and far between.  Fall and winter we have cozier, darker fabrics, blankets, and pillow covers.  Spring and summer require bright, cheerful colors and lighter weight bedding.

Our spring coverlet is from Ikea.  It’s not as heavy as our duvet, but not too light for the cool weather.

Our summer blanket is from Target.  It’s a simple, light weight knit blanket with a waffle weave texture.

You’ll also notice I swapped the green shams for pink ones for more color.

Because you can’t see the floor in these pictures, I thought I’d give you a glimpse into our daily lives.  Behold, Ben’s side of the bed.

Yep, a shirt, shorts, green circle toy (one of the boys brought that in, not Ben), small bowl, phone charger and unplugged alarm clock.  Ev likes to turn the music on and off and usually sets an alarm to go off at midnight while playing around.  And, I’m too lazy to tuck his bedding in every day.  Somethings just aren’t worth it.

What seasonal changes do you make?  Just bedding?  What do you have on your side of the bed?  Tons of junk like Ben?

  1. Where did you get those pictures on your wall? I absolutely love them (especially the one of Minnesota). They are great/simple art, exactly what I’ve been looking for.

  2. Hey Amanda! I love those shams in the first picture, with the dark trim. I’m so glad that you posted this today. I am in the process of switching out my bedding from winter to summer (yes, I realize it is almost August and about time to switch back, but I figure better late than never, right?). I have a question, what is the difference in a coverlet and a comforter?

    1. Hi Darby,

To me, I don’t know about everyone, but a coverlet is a lighter weight than a comforter. That may or may not be right…

      Hope it helps!
      A

  3. I do lots of seasonal swaps, but it has mainly to do with the wreaths on the door, and the little wreaths around the base of one of my candle holders…and sometimes I’ll look up and realize I still have Holly in July. sweet! As for the bed, I have to be cognizant of not letting my knitting take over. It could be yarn, yarn everywhere if I’m not careful!

  4. hey! i have scowered your website looking for a wreath you posted a long while ago. it was wrapped in twine i think.. and had buttons on it.. do you know what i’m talking about? thanks!

    1. Hi Rachael,

Um, I can’t think of a twine and button wreath I’ve made. I know about a Christmas ornament ball one, a pinecone wreath and a feather one for Halloween, but I’m drawing a blank on a twine one. Sorry! I’ll do some searching and see if I can remember something…
