New York

Today, I thought I’d share an art piece I made for Patricia from PVE Design.  If you recall, she painted a beautiful picture of our home and was kind enough to trade art with me.

Patricia loves New York City, particularly Central Park, so I suggested a cut out map piece similar to the one I made of Savannah, Georgia.

With her approval, I started cutting, and cutting, and cutting.  It took a while, but it was well worth the effort.

It’s a large one, too measuring about 18 inches by 24 inches.

Patricia recently wrote a rave review on her blog and I couldn’t be any happier with her reaction.  Thank you so much Patricia for your beautiful art.  We hope you enjoy yours as much as we enjoy ours!

  1. that’s awesome! did you just use regular cardstock or some other type of paper? you must have had some major hand cramps!

i framed the prints that you sent me a few weeks ago but still haven’t had a chance to hang them! things have been pretty hectic – we got married last weekend (brief details on our blog!) but hopefully i’ll get around to hanging them this weekend before the holiday craziness arrives!

    1. Hey Lizzy! Thanks!! And yeah, MAJOR hand cramping after. But, it was totally worth it. 🙂 I can’t wait to see the prints hung up. If you include pics in a post, please send me the link so I can’t forget.

Hi Nicole, Right now we’re waiting for paint to dry, so hopefully something tomorrow. 🙂

      Thanks!

    1. Hi Shannon, Thanks so much! To make both the Savannah and NY cut outs, I used Google maps to compile the map, printed everything out, taped it together and then taped that on top and cut out both layers.

Lizzy, I completely forgot to answer your question. I used a large sheet of cardstock to cut the design out. 🙂

  2. I can’t believe you cut those by hand…. seriously, you could become a gazillionaire selling these! I can never get over your artistic abilities!

    1. Hey Jen! Thanks, lady! I might be able to make money on the maps, but I probably wouldn’t have feeling left in my hands. Haha. 🙂 I miss you! We need to get together asap!

    1. Hey Kristen, I’d love to post a tutorial, but I don’t have a city to work on. Anyone want to buy one? 😉 Basically, I compiled images from Google maps, pieced everything together, taped that on my card stock and started cutting away the areas where buildings, parks and such were so you have just the streets. Does that make sense?

      Thanks!
